Radio Planting - Indonesia

Indonesia Radio StudioSince 2003, HCJB Global has joined with seven different indigenous groups of believers in Indonesia to plant 52 FM radio stations across this nation of 237 million that has the largest population of Muslims of any country in the world.

The door for radio planting is wide open in Indonesia, but this gateway may close at any time. We have made Indonesia one of our top priorities.

Radio is the perfect gateway for reaching Hindus and Muslims and animists who would be unwelcoming to Christian literature or traditional evangelism. Radio is the perfect solution to complement church work and individuals in evangelism and discipleship. It also offers the ideal vehicle for sharing solid theological teaching with both urban areas and remote villages.

The impact of our radio partnerships in Indonesia has been staggering...

  • Our primary partner reports that 20 people PER DAY make a decision to receive Christ as Savior through their network of 45 radio stations.
  • At one station, in the first three weeks on the air, ten Muslims called, asking how they could become Christians.
  • Indonesia listenerOne church planter attempted to reach an isolated island with the Gospel, but found seemingly impenetrable resistance. Our first Indonesian radio station went on the air in February 2004, reaching that Island. Five months later, two churches had been established as a direct result of the radio station’s programs. In one village, the chief’s family, even his 100-year-old mother, was baptized by the same church planter they had ten times refused entrance to their village.
  • On another island, a Christian had such a great desire to reach his province for Christ that he started an FM station with our help in his front yard with his own money. His aired sermons have helped many grow as disciples. One loyal listener copied down each sermon that was broadcast and used them in a Bible study he started in his own neighborhood. From that one group of ten men, the studies have grown to six groups, with over 500 listening to the radio programs.
  • A 50-year-old Muslim woman listened to the radio station in one of the villages for about four months. She then came to the station and asked, “How can I receive Christ as you tell about on the radio?” The staff there explained the way of salvation and led the woman to Christ. When she returned home, her friend asked why she seemed different and happy. “Here, take my radio and listen and find out,” she told her. Three months later, the woman and 12 other friends arrived at the radio station. “They are all ready to receive Jesus,” explained the woman. Just like the Book of Acts!!
