Clean-Water Projects

Clean water has made a dramatic difference in the physical and spiritual health of the people at Hateka, Ghana

Hateka, Ghana, had already heard the Gospel through the “Bible Listening Clubs” a local Christian ministry had been sharing with the villagers. But when HCJB Global came alongside this national partner to put in a clean-water well, the village knew that Christianity was more than just talk. “Before the well, many people died in our village of disease,” reported a village elder. “In the year since the well came, no one has died!” And many villagers have accepted Jesus’ offer of salvation.

Since then five more wells and four community latrines have been installed in Ghana and Burkina Faso. One of the wells was dug on the compound of the radio ministry so that people coming to draw water would also have the opportunity to interact with the Christians at the station and learn more about Jesus, the Living Water.

Additionally, a new type of water project was prototyped in a Ghanaian village that had a source of clean water, but the source was continually being contaminated. A successful spring-capture project reinforced and protected the source from further collapse and contamination from the elements.

The people of Lartey used this open pit as their water source until HCJB Global and partner ministry Theovison installed a deep water well.

HCJB Global continues to work with partners in West Africa on plans for more clean-water projects that together with the Christian FM radio ministries demonstrate God’s love to the communities.

Lives are being transformed as individuals feel the touch of God’s love through community healthcare outreaches and clean-water projects.

  • "For over fifty years, we had no good drinking water. We drank from stagnant streams and hand dug wells and during the dry season we walked several kilometers in search of water. Because of the kind of water we drank, we suffered from various water-borne diseases. However, since Theovision and HCJB Global provided us with the well nobody has complained of any of these ailments." -- The chief of Hateka commenting on the provision of potable water for his village.
