Macaws Several varieties of this parrot are found in Ecuador. The most recognizable is the Blue and Gold Macaw. They are social, inquisitive birds that like to squawk and talk. The Blue and Gold Macaws are the only ones not endangered in the wild. Monkeys The Amazon jungle also has many varieties of monkeys. One of those, the Pygmy Marmoset, is the smallest monkey in the world and when it is full-grown it can fit in the palm of your hand! Tapir Although tapirs look like pigs, they are actually related to the horse and rhinoceros! They can run quickly through the jungle underbrush and are good swimmers too.
