History of HCJB World
Radio In 1931, a man named Clarence Jones believed that God wanted him to start a radio
station in South America. He decided to build a station in Ecuador, up in the Andes
Mountains. Experts in shortwave radio told
Clarence that the worst place to put a radio station was in the mountains near the
equator, but Clarence felt that God had told him to put one there. On Dec. 25, 1931,
Clarence and other missionary friends went
on the air with HCJB -- the Voice of the Andes. Today, experts agree that the
mountains near the equator is one of the best places
to put a shortwave radio station! It's a good thing Clarence listened to God!
