about us

Clean Water Projects is part of HCJB Global Hands. We are a multidisciplinary and multicultural team of engineers, water and health professionals with a vision, mission and strategy to meet people in their physical and spiritual need. Our work is primarily but not exclusively in the rural areas of Ecuador.

Vision and Mission

Vision

As Jesus met people in their physical and spiritual need our vision is to do the same through the medium of sustainable Christ centered water, sanitation and hygiene projects. In becoming the global hands and voice of Jesus Christ we seek to share the good news of restoration and relationship with him.

Mission

Our mission is to enable communities to help themselves through the facilitation of Christ centered sustainable community development. Through the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene education projects we seek to realize permanent health improvements in the communities with whom we work at both a physical and spiritual level.

We work with communities, international, national and local organizations to set up projects that are sustainable, low cost, use appropriate technology and are easily operated and maintained by the community without outside dependency.

We are a non profit organization and depend on voluntary support to carry out our work. If you are able to donate we welcome your support.

From vision to reality

We are a team of Christians committed to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those around us. To carry out our work we depend on every member of the team and the abilities, gifts and experience they contribute – staff, donors, partners, volunteers, trustees and of course the communities themselves.

In all we do we aim to be the hands and voice of Christ – demonstrating compassion, love, justice, honesty, accountability, flexibility, innovation and wise stewardship of resources. We are a dynamic team seeking to innovate, develop, share, research, evaluate, analyze and lead in our area of expertise.

Our work is focused primarily on the rural areas of Ecuador however we are becoming increasingly involved in semi-urban projects in some of the provincial towns. We are also looking at opportunities to begin working in other Latin American countries.

Strategy

Our strategy is to help a number of communities to model the benefits of improved health and welfare that come through appropriate Christ centered community development. In this way these communities become beacons, examples shedding light to surrounding areas. Other communities can then observe the tangible benefits and catch the vision for living with improved physical and spiritual health.

Central to the strategy is an emphasis on providing safe water, improved sanitation facilities, health and hygiene education. We also integrate evangelism, discipleship and pastoral training into the program.

We aim to make a contribution towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These are targets that have been agreed by the world governments which aim to tackle world poverty through actions including reducing by half the number of people who do not have access to safe water and sanitation by 2015.

Our strategy also coincides with the United Nations International Decade for Action on Water. Known as ‘Water for Life’ this initiative runs from 2005 to 2015.
