Hospital Vozandes QuitoHospital Vozandes Quito is a missionary urban general hospital strategically located on the north side of Ecuador’s capital city. The hospital serves as a trauma center and has residencies in family practice and ophthalmology. Current inpatient bed capacity: 74. The original hospital opened Oct. 12, 1955, and continues to expand in response to the high patient volumes.Medical education Hospital Vozandes-Quito is affiliated with five Ecuadorian universities for medical, nursing and paramedical education:
Staff members instruct students as externs and interns as well as ophthalmology and family practice residencies in medicine. The nursing education program is designed to give practical, hospital-based experience to students at the undergraduate level. Other programs include preprofessional experience in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, social work, accounting and secretarial services. Hospital Vozandes del OrienteLocated at the edge of the Amazon basin in Shell, 150 miles (250 km) southeast of Quito, the hospital is an intermediate healthcare facility that offers general medical, surgical and outpatient services for those living in remote areas. It also offers pastoral services and is a referral facility for other healthcare centers. Inpatient bed capacity: 30. Original facility opened on May 10, 1958. Present facility inaugurated March 30, 1985.
