Joanna Ilboudo of Christian Action Together for Solidarity Ministries (ACTS) in Burkina Faso needs help to accomplish its mission to bring the love of Christ and hope to those who live under the stigma of being AIDS widows and orphans. ACTS is ministering to these poorest of poor through relief, education, feeding programs, training, literacy, health and social care programs, acts that restore their dignity and relieve human suffering.
HCJB Global planted an FM radio station in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso a few years ago and Joanna was its first radio station manager. But then God placed on her heart the plight of AIDS widows and orphans and Joanna was determined to make a difference, and God led her to establish ACTS Ministry-Burkina Faso. Joanna began ACTS ministry in a small village near the capital city of Ouagadougou. Initially the work invited 25 children and 12 widows to partake in the ministry program. The number of individuals asking to be part of the ministry has grown in the last year. Housing is desperately needed for them. We need teams to help construct block dormitories and kitchens to provide housing; to help in a literacy program, teaching English, teaching microenterprise of income generating jobs for widows; teaching skills in sewing and knitting; and VBS type programs for the kids. In terms of the weather, the best time is: (1) Sept-Nov; (2) Dec-Feb; (3) Mar-May; (4) June-Aug. ACTS ministry is a 501(c)(3) not for profit ministry in the U.S. and a registered non-governmental agency (NGO) in Burkina Faso. A Ministry Overview Document of ACTS Ministry-Burkina Faso and an interview with Joanna Ilboudo by the African AIDS Awareness Campaign is available for further information. Email abraio@hcjb.org to request it. |
