Spotlight Listeners' Club |
What is Spotlight?Spanish Website - En Español
Spotlight is a vehicle for reaching out to your non-English speaking community.
Spotlight is a 15-minute radio program (though, via the Internet, you can use it even if it isn’t broadcast in your area) that uses Specialized English to discuss many different subjects. Each program uses the vocabulary from a 1500 word dictionary. The program is delivered at a speaking rate of 90 words per minute—about half the normal speaking rate for English.
Spotlight is produced in the United States and England by teams from Words of Hope and FEBA Radio. It is not designed to teach English but to help people practice their listening skills. The goal of Spotlight is to communicate the love of Jesus. For this reason, the programs talk about things that Christians believe without criticizing things that other people believe.
