Cool Critters

Living in Shell gives us the opportunity to see some really neat creatures.

The caterpillars in this part of Ecuador can be poisonous. Because of this we don't pick them up. The spines on the caterpillar on the right would sting if touched. These stings are very painful, and are even worse than snake bites. This caterpillar was less than 2" long; out in the jungle they can grow to be at least 4" long.

The grasshopper on Dustin's back is almost 3" long and has many spines on its head and legs.
