Radio Training

Dario Rubio teaches a workshop during HCJB Global's Radio Congress. This ministry involves receiving and evaluating requests for training, scheduling members of the radio training team to respond to requests, and developing and evaluating training materials. The mission is also developing a network of Christian communicators throughout the region who can share ideas and needs with each other via the mission’s training website.

Highlights of 2008:
  • Some 400 communicators were trained in 13 cities in seven countries (Brazil, U.S., Guatemala, Spain, Ecuador, Mexico and Panama), benefiting more than 100 radio stations. Key opportunities opened for training, especially among the indigenous peoples of Brazil.
  • Workshops were held in the Brazilian states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Rondonia and Amazonas with key indigenous leaders seeking how to use radio to educate and inform their own people as well as evangelize neighboring unreached tribes. An increasing number of likeminded partner ministries have come alongside HCJB Global in this area. The training was accomplished with the help of HCJB Global producers and missionaries as well as staff members from partner radio ministries in Spain and the Americas.
  • The fourth biennial ALAS-HCJB conference for affiliate radio stations was held in Quito in June.
  • Staff helped bring two key radio ministries together in order to see the gospel enter southern Mexico in a more strategic way. A staff member from KSBJ in Houston was part of a radio training team in May. Contacts made with Radio Impacto in La Mesilla would lead to a more detailed mentoring agreement in early 2009.
